Mobile devices don't exist in a vacuum. Instead, the mobile devices are used by different individuals, at different departments, for many different purposes, and the needs concerning the use of mobile devices vary according to all these aspects. Therefore, it is important to map and model the context and the environment where the devices are used. In Miradore Online, that is done using location, organization, and user configuration items.
The user, location, and organization configuration items can be managed under My Company in the navigation menu.
In Miradore Online, user configuration items are used to model the end-users who are responsible for the mobile devices that are managed with Miradore Online. Each user item contains and stores the information and settings for one user.
The users are needed, because all devices which are managed with Miradore Online, must have a single user who is responsible for it. Usually, that is the end-user of the device. One person can also be responsible for multiple devices.
You can manage the users from My company > Users view in the Navigation menu. In the view, you can find all user management tasks, such as adding and deleting users, from the Actions menu which is located on the right side of the view.
Required information for all users include a name and an email address. User information can be also complemented with the details of Exchange ActiveSync or other mail accounts, and proxy or VPN accounts. Please, see the below articles for more detailed instructions.
In Miradore Online, location configuration items are used to represent the physical locations where the managed devices reside. A location can represent, for example, a continent, country, city, village, or even a building or some specific room, but only locations known to Nominatim are shown in the map in Miradore Online.
In addition, the locations can be arranged into a hierarchy, and there is no limit for the depth of the hierarchy. The map location in Miradore Online is always calculated based on the leaf node in the location hierarchy. For example, if the location hierarchy is "Europe > Switzerland > Bern", then Bern would be the leaf node.
For a single device, the location can be defined using the Location field on the Settings tab of the device form.
In Miradore Online, organization configuration items are used to represent the organizational units where the managed devices belong to.
In addition, the organizations can be arranged into a hierarchy, and there is no limit for the depth of the hierarchy.
For a single device, the organizational unit can be defined using the Organization field on the Settings tab of the device form.
